Welcome to Babette's Kitchen where you can learn alternative cooking techniques in a relaxed and stimulating environment. Located in Madrid, Babette offers workshops that will unlock a culinary world suitable for vegetarians and vegans in which the innovative use of ingredients is combined with more traditional cooking styles. To safeguard the purety of flavours, we endeavour to use organic produce.
Concept
Babette seeks to convey and teach specific cooking techniques designed to slow-down and personalise the production of our food, making it tastier and healthier. Through a deliberate and careful process of cooking, we maximise the nutritional content of the ingredients, prioritising aromas and flavours.
System
Babette's workshops are always hands-on. The idea is to learn to cook whilst cooking. Sitting down to watch someone work through a recipe does not allow anyone to get the most out of a cooking class. In the same way, one does not learn to make an omelette beating eggs while the neighbour cuts potatoes. In Babette the students do everything themselves and to this end each one has a work station, equipped with their own cooking utensils and the necessary ingredients to prepare recipes.
Time
In Babette you do not need to worry about going home dwarfed by the prospect of spending loads of time in front of the cooker. The techniques we teach in our workshops are simplified as far as possible and take into account the different lifestyles of the students and their distinct levels of enthusiasm for cooking. We seek to communicate a fluid system of food preparation, based on the assumption that a spell in the kitchen need not be an ordeal and that even the busiest of people can find a way of savouring the flavours of the past and a healthy and energetic cuisine.
